Longer Days
The search went on, and before they knew it, they were two days into it. For over two days, Charlee’s family and the sheriff’s office worked together to find the small girl who, they assumed, had walked off into the adjacent woods. Many people were interested, each putting up significant work and time to the quest. According to Scotty McGaha of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, they “interviewed multiple family members Thursday and Friday throughout the search, along with the FBI.” Fortunately, the missing girl was not truly alone.

Though the family was obviously in a bad way, the idea that the little girl was out there in the woods was difficult to accept. Only local officials went into the woods to look for her since they didn’t want to put citizens in danger. The sheriff, together with the police and firefighters, walked in and out of the woods multiple times, determined to find Charlee. They couldn’t help but be concerned after witnessing and experiencing the dangers of the wild for themselves. The local authorities could hardly deny that they had considered what may have happened to the youngster.
