The only thing for her to do was to get a fresh start. This was the reason she left Alabama. In 2015, she took a soul-searching journey and made life changes. She decided to move to Denver, Colorado after getting a job at a commercial construction company. She was the integrated service manager for GE Johnson.

Katie felt good about this decision. She could finally turn her life around and then reach her goals. She bought a 4-bedroom “fixer-upper” house that she planned to renovate by herself. “The house I bought would require extensive work to transform into my vision and most of which I would have to do myself in order to afford it,” she said. She also told a friend it was meant for ‘more’ but did not know what yet.
