Some Thought Mongo’s Scene Was Inappropriate

In spite of how hilarious the knockout punch scene with Mongo is, some viewers thought it was inappropriate. How the horse was treated enraged animal rights activists even though in reality, there were no horses injured. Still, there were arguments that it was actually possible to make the scene less violent so that others would not get any ideas like it was suggested in the movie. Fortunately, there was no need for the filmmakers to harm animals to shoot that part of the film since the horses were trained to fall when commanded.

Gig Young Got The Boot

When Blazing Saddles was first shot, actor Gig Young played the Waco Kid. Among the early scenes that was filmed included the Waco Kid hanging from his bunk bed, intoxicated and berating Bart. Watching the scenes might make you think that Young was an incredible actor for acting drunk very accurately, but in actual fact, he was drunk during filming and it even reached a point where production needed to be stopped. Young got the boot and Gene Wilder was cast to replace him. Years later, Gig Young filed a lawsuit against the studio, citing breach of contact.
